Week 11

Day 17: October 23rd, 1999
Day 18: October 24th, 1999

After some initial tangles, the shoot at the very cool, very scenic, and very squalid location of the Old DC Water Treatment Plant went on without a hitch this past weekend.

When cast and crew first arrived, it was discovered that the entrance had been securely locked in the intervening months since principal location scouting. Fortunately, an alternate entrance was discovered and I didn't have to use the magic metal wand that can open any door through the power of smashing and breaking.

This time around it was Leading Man Frank Prather's turn for the Very Uncomfortable Make-up as a gag knife was placed over his stomach with crazy glue, a gallon of stage blood was poured into his skivvies, and another knife fastened securely to his face with 5-minute epoxy. Adding to this was an authentic dead goose (c/o F/X man Danny Fielding) and a prominent pile of human feces located in the "holding area", and Frankie was feeling a bit queasy.

But Young Rising Star Patrick Collins mocked the sickly Frank and boldly played with the excrement using his bare hands, smearing it across his chest, and flinging it at pedestrians on the street like a deranged, rabid chimp. I predict great things for this boy- nay, incredible things, things involving the use of human waste that we can barely comprehend or even contemplate. And remember that if in the future, you smell something pungent and just a little bit ripe, it’s not the stench of a steaming pile of man-filth, but the sweet aroma of genius.

Actor Frank Prather gets a little light-headed as the stage blood makes its way into his fecund nether regions.

Actor Cash Flagg, Jr. strikes a pose.

DoP Eric Thornett lines up a shot as the rest of the crew watch huddled in the quaintly filthy concrete silo holding area of the Old DC Water Treatment Plant.

Frank Prather and knife. Ta-da!
