Day 21: November 14th, 1999 |
Although we started late for reasons both mysterious and acutely annoying, we were able to condense the shooting in the remaining time thanks to some quick rewrites and creative casting. Actress Marigot Mahon-Haft excelled in her newly created role as "Mona Dervish", the philosophical bar maid; F/X Man Danny Fielding demonstrated he has more to offer the world than violence and death as "Lucifer Mendez", lackey at Club Bertha; and Jen Dunkelberger rose to the occasion by penning some new dialogue and illustrating her spooky penmanship style- super scary neat and clean, even for a girl. The creative solidarity was joined by Frank Prather who spat up pennies on command and if he knew where those pennies had been, he'd have spit up more than change, and Judy Chen who gleefully rolled around a desk with hands tied while dressed in my mother's lingerie and that is just really, really wrong. The only low point was Allison Jacobson's refusal to have a curling stuck in her rear end even though it was just a prop and we could've easily used a real one if we wanted. Ron Lincoln and Donald Vick rounded things out with their rock-steady support and quick, lemur-like twitching. They are all to be applauded. All that's planned for this weekend are some pick-up shots so you won't be hearing from me for a little while. The next planned shoot will be the weekend of December 4th and then come the evening of Monday December 6, we'll be done. Thank God Almighty! The end is even more NEARER...! |
Mona Dervish (Marigot Mahon-Haft) looks on wistfully with a wisdom far beyond her years. |
Lucifer Medez (Danny Fielding) and New Girl Suzy (Jen Dunkelberger) chat it up as Fish Cake Sloane (Ron Lincoln) watches. |
John Paglio puts in his low bid to be the poster boy for tooth decay as he sports his special gums-only dentures. |
Jimmy Degas (John Paglio) waxes slimy in Club Bertha. |
The cast takes five between takes; from l to r: Danny Fielding, Donald Vick, Ron Lincoln and Frank Prather. |
Producer Kent Bye provides valuable lower lumbar support to Action Man/DoP Eric Thornett as Judy Chen lurks in the background in the only photo she would allow us to post. |
Bertha (Allison Jacobson) gets burned and burned good by her own curling iron as F/X King Danny Fielding works his special magic out of camera range. |
Addendum Of course, it goes w/o saying that any mention of this past weekend's shoot would be lacking if we were not to note John Paglio's stellar performance. When not thesping on camera, John would sneak off to break furniture and steal my mother's silverware by hiding them in his pants. The constant jingling and metallic rattle was a dead giveaway and once his scenes were completed, the police were called in to perform a full cavity search of the thieving Paglio. The search yielded not only the missing silverware, but a VCR, assorted tooth whiteners, and two 56 year-old Thai fisherman who had been living in John's lower intestine and subsisting on a diet of beef jerky and urine. Now awaiting extradition to Zimbabwe where he is wanted for various "unnatural acts", John currently resides in the City of Rockville's correctional facility where he amuses all the inmates with his exotic tales of Ancient Persia when they aren't beating him senseless. |
